AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Supermercado Nuestra Familia, a retail chain, has partnered with the Islamic Center of Topeka in the state of Kansas under a new initiative aimed at strengthening social ties, implementing a support program for Muslim families during the holy month of Ramadan.
Under the plan, from the beginning of Ramadan until March 19, the store will provide fresh fruit and special cakes each week, prepared in accordance with the dietary requirements of the religious observance, to between 25 and 50 families. In addition, five-dollar discount coupons for purchases of 25 dollars will be distributed among families through the mosque.
Store officials stated that the initiative was designed to enhance social engagement and demonstrate a practical commitment to the local community.
They emphasized that their participation in Ramadan-related activities is intended solely to show respect for religious traditions and to provide social support, noting that the measure forms part of a broader policy of involvement in local assistance programs.
Representatives of the Islamic Center of Topeka welcomed the initiative, describing it as a sign of social solidarity and shared values of generosity and empathy. According to them, Ramadan, in addition to being a period of worship and fasting, represents an opportunity to strengthen social bonds and assist those in need.
