Mayor Calls for Prosecution of Pauline Hanson Over Anti-Muslim Remarks

Following Pauline Hanson’s comments about Muslims, the Mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown called for her prosecution under hate speech laws, as the opposition leader joined growing nationwide condemnation.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Recent remarks by Pauline Hanson about Muslims have sparked widespread condemnation across Australia, with a local mayor calling for hate speech charges to be brought against her.

The leader of One Nation has faced sharp criticism after stating that “there is no good Muslim” and claiming that people feel unsafe in areas with large Muslim populations, including Lakemba in western Sydney.

Bilal El-Hayek, Mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown, which includes Lakemba, said the senator should be prosecuted under relevant hate speech laws. He described her comments as divisive and harmful to social cohesion.

Reports indicate that pressure is mounting on Hanson to clarify or retract her statements. However, no new official response has been issued by the senator so far.
