Muslim Scrap Dealer Returns Gold Worth 1.5 Million Rupees to Owner

A Muslim scrap dealer in Ballabgarh, India, handed over 100 grams of hidden gold found in purchased scrap to the police, leading to the return of the jewelry to its rightful owner.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A scrap dealer in the city of Ballabgarh, near Faridabad, returned 100 grams of 22-carat gold jewelry worth approximately 1.5 million rupees after discovering it among a consignment of household scrap he had purchased.

According to reports, Haji Akhtar Khan, a scrap dealer residing in Ballabgarh, had purchased household scrap from a family about six months earlier. Before traveling, the family had concealed their jewelry inside a bag of scrap to prevent theft; however, several months later, they inadvertently sold the same bag.

The owner of the jewelry, Ashok Sharma, a representative of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, recalled two months after the sale that the gold had been stored in the bag.

After recovering the jewelry, Sharma described Haji Akhtar Khan as a “living example of honesty,” stating, “During Diwali, we inadvertently handed over the gold along with the scrap and suffered a major loss. Haji Akhtar Khan, with complete integrity, delivered the gold to the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s office and personally informed us. I sincerely thank him.”

The honest act of the scrap dealer has received widespread attention on social media, with many describing it as an inspiring example of adherence to ethical principles in everyday life.
