AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The announcement by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office that Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to Washington ahead of schedule for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked widespread analysis and speculation in political circles in Israel.
The meeting, set to take place on Wednesday, comes shortly after the first round of negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in Oman.
According to official statements, this will mark the seventh meeting between Netanyahu and Trump since the new U.S. administration took office more than a year ago—an unusually high number of encounters that observers describe as unprecedented in frequency.
Trump’s recent remarks describing the talks with Iran as “very good” and emphasizing the continuation of negotiations have been met with cautious, and in some cases concerned, reactions in Israel. The U.S. president also stated that Washington is in “no rush” to take action, a position that some analysts interpret as a departure from earlier White House rhetoric.
Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, in an interview with Israel’s Channel 14, stressed that Trump remains committed to his promises and would act if Tehran continues on its current course. Referring to the Oman talks, Huckabee said he would receive the outcome of the discussions from the American negotiating team.
Huckabee also described Iran’s threats against the United States and Israel as serious, warning that if Iran were to acquire long-range missiles, it could pose a direct threat to the United States.
At the same time, public opinion in Israel is closely monitoring developments. Several media outlets are tracking U.S. military movements, including the repositioning of aircraft carriers, in an effort to assess whether tensions may escalate or lead to potential military action.
