AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Malaysia’s Prime Minister has warned of deepening racial and religious divisions worldwide, urging citizens to work to preserve national unity and social stability and to prevent extremism and hate speech from infiltrating society.
Speaking at the monthly assembly of the Ministry of National Unity, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the rising wave of fascism, racism, and Islamophobia in Europe and the United States is alarming and has even spread among educated segments of society. He stressed that this trend must not be underestimated, as hostility toward minorities and different religions is increasingly gaining momentum.
Expressing concern over the growing prevalence of racial and religious sentiments devoid of rational grounding and awareness, Anwar described this phenomenon as one of the most serious challenges facing societies today, emphasizing that confronting it requires wisdom, awareness, and strong social cohesion.
In conclusion, Anwar underscored the vital role of the Ministry of National Unity in strengthening social solidarity and promoting religious and ethnic tolerance, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding Malaysia against any form of division and discord that could threaten the country’s peace and development.
