AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Indonesia’s deputy foreign minister said his country is prepared to build strategic partnerships to address challenges facing the Islamic world, stressing the need for greater collective action amid evolving global geopolitical dynamics.
Anis Matta made the remarks at a seminar titled “Indonesia and Integration in the Islamic World: A New Roadmap,” organized by the Al-Hiwar Center for Political and Media Studies in cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo.
Reviewing the formation of Indonesia’s national identity, rooted in values of religiosity, humanity, unity, consultation, and social justice, Matta said the process has shaped Indonesia into a Muslim-majority, democratic, modern, and stable country capable of playing a role at both regional and global levels.
He added that Indonesia’s national values could serve as a model for the Islamic world during a period of global transition marked by conflict, instability, and structural disruption.
Referring to fragmentation within the Islamic world and declining confidence in global governance systems, the deputy foreign minister said the current situation calls for solutions based on solidarity, cooperation, and strategic autonomy.
“Indonesia, as the country with the world’s largest Muslim population, enjoying stability and strategic independence, stands ready to play an active role in addressing the challenges facing the Islamic world,” he said.
Participants at the seminar, including Egyptian academics and diplomats, welcomed the approach and described Egypt as a strategic partner for Indonesia and a bridge to Africa and other parts of the Islamic world.
The meeting concluded with proposals to enhance cooperation among think tanks, expand media and translation collaboration to promote a positive narrative of Indonesian Islam, strengthen South-South cooperation, and facilitate business meetings on the sidelines of official visits.
