AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli forces have once again targeted Palestinian journalists in Gaza, killing several media professionals in Gaza City. According to Rami Abdu, Chairman of Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, an Israeli airstrike hit al-Baqa Café in western Gaza, where journalists had gathered to upload news amid a widespread internet blackout.
Medical sources reported that the strike killed at least 33 people and injured dozens more. Most of the victims were journalists, artists, and online activists—many of whom depended on al-Baqa Café as one of the few remaining internet access points in the Gaza Strip.
Abdu said the incident reflected a growing pattern in which Israel appears to be deliberately attacking locations where journalists transfer news content. Gaza’s Government Media Office confirmed the death of photojournalist Ismail Abu Hatab, who contributed to several outlets. The office issued a strongly worded statement condemning the “systematic targeting and assassination” of Palestinian journalists.
The strikes came amid a broader escalation. Hospital sources revealed that Israeli attacks across Gaza on Monday alone killed at least 80 civilians—including 57 in the north and 15 who were waiting at aid distribution points near Rafah in the south.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s military campaign has claimed the lives of more than 56,530 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
