AhlulBayt News Agency: The Israeli army has officially acknowledged that its soldiers shot and killed Palestinian civilians at aid distribution centers in Gaza. A military spokesperson admitted that Palestinians “have been harmed” and stated the incidents are currently under investigation.
Earlier this month, Haaretz revealed that Israeli soldiers had allegedly been ordered to fire on unarmed crowds near food distribution zones, even when there was no apparent threat. Over the past month, hundreds of Palestinians have reportedly been killed while attempting to access food.
The United Nations estimates that around 600 Palestinians have died in such contexts, under the current U.S.-Israeli aid system in Gaza. Despite this, the two governments have introduced the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) as a new aid delivery platform, bypassing existing international relief channels.
The UN and humanitarian organizations in Gaza have refused to cooperate with the GHF, saying the mechanism enables greater control over aid supplies and is being used as political leverage against Palestinians. Aid groups warn that a devastating famine may soon take hold in Gaza.
Palestinian resistance groups argue that the U.S.-backed aid model supports Israel’s goals of forced displacement and ethnic cleansing. Monday alone saw at least 80 Palestinians killed across the territory by Israeli military strikes.
An airstrike hit tents sheltering displaced people outside Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza, injuring more than 50. A Press TV production team narrowly escaped harm in the same area after relocating there from Khan Yunis to avoid earlier bombings.
Meanwhile, Israel has increased its bombardment of northern Gaza, targeting multiple neighborhoods and launching attacks on at least four schools.
