Trump warns Iran of consequences over alleged US proposal

US President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric against Iran, warning of unspecified consequences if Tehran does not act swiftly on what he called an American “proposal

AhlulBayt News Agency: US President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric against Iran, warning of unspecified consequences if Tehran does not act swiftly on what he called an American “proposal.”

Speaking aboard Air Force One after concluding a Persian Gulf tour on Friday, Trump stated that Iran had received the alleged proposal from his administration and cautioned against delaying a response.

“They have a proposal. More importantly, they know they have to move quickly or something bad—something bad's going to happen,” he told reporters.

Tehran has not yet commented on the alleged proposal.

Throughout his previous tenure from 2017 to 2021 and his current presidency, Trump has consistently used adversarial language regarding Iran. Despite indirect talks between the two sides since April, his rhetoric remains unchanged.

Trump’s remarks align with his “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran, which began during his first term. The campaign led to the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, the reinstatement of sanctions, and additional economic measures against Iran.

Iranian officials have repeatedly rejected Washington’s approach, warning that intimidation contradicts diplomacy.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently reaffirmed that Iran would not dismantle any of its nuclear facilities, a demand frequently made by the US and its allies.

Araghchi also defended Iran’s right to enrich uranium, stating, “Defending the rights of the Iranian people in the nuclear field, including enrichment, is one of these principles and rights of the people that we will not compromise on.”

President Masoud Pezeshkian echoed this stance, asserting that threats would not work against Iran and that the country remains committed to peaceful nuclear energy, national development, and regional stability.

Tehran has firmly rejected any negotiations beyond the nuclear issue and the removal of US sanctions, refusing to discuss its defensive capabilities or regional influence
