Trump frustrated over high cost of US drones compared to Iranian models

Trump expressed frustration over the high cost of US drones compared to Iranian models. He hinted at a possible nuclear deal with Iran to prevent military action. Iranian President Pezeshkian rejected Trump’s accusations, reaffirming Iran’s stance against pressure.

AhlulBayt News Agency: US President Donald Trump has stated that he asked American defense companies to manufacture drones similar to Iranian models, which he described as inexpensive yet highly effective.

Speaking in Qatar on Thursday before departing for the United Arab Emirates, Trump remarked that Iranian drones cost between $35,000 and $40,000, whereas US companies presented him with a drone priced at $41 million. He expressed frustration over the high cost, emphasizing the need for affordable drones that could be deployed in large numbers.

Iran has made significant advancements in drone technology, demonstrating its ability to conduct long-range precision strikes. The country’s indigenous defense industry has enabled it to develop a wide range of military equipment despite years of US sanctions.

Iranian officials have repeatedly asserted that the country will continue strengthening its military capabilities, including missile power, for defensive purposes. They have maintained that Iran’s defense programs will never be subject to negotiations.

During his speech in Doha, Trump also mentioned that a nuclear deal with Iran was nearing completion, potentially preventing military action against Tehran. He suggested that Iran had agreed to certain terms, though he did not specify details.

Earlier in his visit to Saudi Arabia, Trump labeled Iran as the “most destructive force” in West Asia, accusing it of destabilizing the region. He reiterated that the US would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons, despite Tehran’s firm rejection of such claims.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded by rejecting Trump’s accusations, stating that Iran will never bow to threats or pressure. He criticized the US for its stance on Iran’s regional role.
