During the phone call, the two presidents exchanged their views on the latest developments in the region following the cessation of US and Israeli military aggression against Iran as well as the current state after the declaration of a ceasefire.
Pezeshkian stressed Iran's firm determination to establish peace, stability, and security throughout the region, stating that Iran's acceptance of the ceasefire is a clear sign of Iran's responsibility and serious will to resolve conflicts through diplomacy.
He emphasized the need for a ceasefire in Lebanon, noting that the demand has been one of the pivotal conditions of Iran's 10-point plan, so that France's role, as one of the guarantors of the previous Lebanese ceasefire, is important at this juncture.
Lashing out at the failure of European countries to take a clear and decisive stance in condemning the crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, Pezeshkian called on Europe to play a responsible and influential role in supporting the lasting stability and security in the region and put pressure on the United States and the Zionist regime to abide by their commitments.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president pointed to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, noting, “The insecurity imposed on the Strait of Hormuz is the direct result of the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.”
Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's responsible role, as it had over the past years, in ensuring the safe passage of vessels through this vital waterway while protecting Iran's national interests and security.
The president of France, for his part, hailed Iran’s action in releasing two French citizens and considered the ceasefire announcement an important step towards a complete end to the war and establishing lasting peace in the region.
