AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Iran’s 10-point proposal is a sign of the country’s responsible approach towards the regional peace and security.
He made the remarks in a telephone conversation with Japan Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi late on Wednesday, emphasizing that Iran's acceptance of the ceasefire once again confirms the seriousness of the country in resorting to diplomacy.
Accordingly, Iran has conveyed the general outline of its 10-point proposal to the American side as the basis for establishing a permanent ceasefire and ending the war.
During the phone call, the two sides exchanged their views on the latest developments in the region, especially the issue of ceasing the illegal war of aggression by the US and the Zionist regime against Iran.
Pezeshkian expounded on the various dimensions of the military aggression and crimes committed by the US and the Zionist regime against the Iranian people, emphasizing Iran's strong distrust of the US government due to the US history of betrayal of diplomacy and military aggression against Iran in the midst of the nuclear negotiations process.
The recent military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran was a gross violation of the United Nations Charter and the rules of international law, and an example of a war crime, he underlined.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Pezeshkian referred to the responsible approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in accepting the ceasefire as a basis for a complete cessation of the war and establishment of lasting peace and security in the region, adding that Iran's acceptance of the ceasefire once again confirms its seriousness in resorting to diplomacy, according to which, Iran conveyed the general outline of its 10-point proposal to the American side as the basis for establishing a permanent ceasefire and ending the war.
Turning to the latest situation of Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian president maintained that the insecurity imposed in the region and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.
Measures taken by Iran at the Strait of Hormuz were based on international law, aimed at preventing the aggressors from abusing this waterway to attack Iran.
The prime minister of Japan, for her part, expressed regret over the loss of lives of Iranian people and damage to the civilian facilities during the recent war, emphasizing the need to de-escalate tensions in the region as quickly as possible.
Takaichi assessed the ceasefire and cessation of hostilities as a positive step, expressing hope that diplomacy would pave the way for establishing lasting peace in the region.
