ABWA Denounces Terrorist Attack on Lady Khadija al-Kubra (a.s.) Mosque in Islamabad

In a statement denouncing the terrorist attack on the Lady Khadija al-Kubra (a.s.) Mosque in Islamabad, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said the incident underscores how the presence of terrorism in the region fuels killings, instability, and undermines development and peaceful coexistence.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Following the terrorist attack on the Lady Khadija al-Kubra (a.s.) Mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, which resulted in the martyrdom of several Shiite worshippers, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly issued a statement strongly condemning the attack and offering condolences to the people and government of Pakistan, Muslim scholars and elites, and the families of the martyrs and those injured.

In the statement, the Assembly said, “The news of the terrorist attack on the Khadija al-Kubra (a.s.) Mosque in the Tarlai area of Islamabad, which left around 200 Shiite worshippers martyred or wounded, caused profound sorrow and grief among Muslims and justice-seekers worldwide.”

The statement added, “The attack, carried out by the ISIS terrorist group in Pakistan during Friday prayers on 17 Sha‘ban 1447 AH (February 6, 2026), demonstrates that the presence of affiliated terrorism in countries across the region leads to mass killings, instability, and obstructs growth, development, and communal life. Attacking worshippers who were immersed in tranquility and spiritual devotion and carried no means of defense reflects the extreme brutality of the ISIS terrorist group.”

The statement further said, “The oppressed Shiites of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who have consistently sought peaceful coexistence with other Islamic schools of thought, have once again been targeted by terrorists.

It expressed hope that all Muslims and the country’s authorities would intensify efforts to preserve calm, strengthen Islamic unity, and eradicate terrorism. The Assembly also called on international organizations and forums to take appropriate global measures to confront terrorism, which it said is backed by global powers and Zionism.

At the conclusion of the statement, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly extended its condolences to the people and government of Pakistan, Muslim scholars and elites, and the families of the martyrs and those affected by the attack and prayed to God for the exaltation of the martyrs’ ranks and the swift recovery of the injured.
