Imam Khomeini (r.a.) Transformed Passive Awaiting into Active, Civilization-Building Discourse: ABWA’s Secretary-General

Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to the transformation of the discourse of awaiting by Imam Khomeini (r.a.), stated that the Imam transformed passive and negative awaiting into active, dynamic, and civilization-building awaiting.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt World Assembly, explained two distinct perspectives regarding the end times, stating that one view is collapse- and corruption-centered, portraying the end of time as the end of humanity, a perspective also promoted by Hollywood. The second view, however, is a reformist and Qur’anic perspective, which promises that the earth will ultimately be inherited by the righteous. This divine promise, he emphasized, is irrevocable.

Referring to the characteristics of the promised society, Ayatollah Ramazani stated that in the society of the era of the Reappearance, knowledge will flourish extensively. According to narrations, he noted, of the twenty-seven branches of knowledge, only two have thus far been manifested, and in that era, knowledge will attain its complete meaning. The future society, he said, will be a rational, secure, and ethics-oriented society, one in which the righteous assume governance and reform is realized in the realms of belief, morality, and Sharia.

He added that contemporary humanity is thirsty for justice, security, and human dignity, yet within the global system of dominance, rationality is defined without spirituality, a profit-centered rationality detached from ethics and faith. By contrast, he stated, the Holy Qur’an contains more than three hundred verses concerning reflection, rationality, and the connection between reason and spirituality, which he described as the very discourse of Mahdism.

Referring to the present global crises, he stated that poverty, discrimination, injustice, racism, and modern forms of slavery have reached their peak. Negotiation within the logic of the dominant global system, he said, entails the humiliation and intimidation of nations. Ruhollah Khomeini (r.a.) challenged this dominance-oriented discourse and revived a monotheistic view of the human being, a perspective that regards humanity as a divine, dignified, and active being.

He emphasized that Imam Khomeini (r.a.) reconciled humanity with itself, and that this reconciliation with the self led to reconciliation with God and with others. This integrative outlook, he stated, called humanity to construct a “worldly paradise” through a monotheistic approach. Faith, justice, and security, he added, are today oppressed in the world, and if knowledge becomes separated from faith, tragedies such as those witnessed in Gaza will be repeated.

Ayatollah Ramazani also criticized what he described as the instrumental approach of the West toward concepts such as human rights, women’s rights, and freedom. He stated that in an era when human rights are widely proclaimed, defenseless women and children are killed in the worst manner. True freedom, he said, was the common call of all divine prophets, and Imam Khomeini (r.a.), with a prophetic outlook, revived this authentic concept and led the Iranian nation toward independence—an independence that entailed high costs, including the martyrdom of the country’s scientists and commanders.

Referring to the transformation of the discourse of awaiting by the late Imam, he stressed that Imam Khomeini (r.a.) transformed passive and negative awaiting into active, field-oriented, and civilization-building awaiting. Awaiting, he stated, signifies preparedness, action, and responsibility, and for this reason, it has been described in narrations as “the most excellent of deeds.”

In conclusion, the Secretary-General emphasized the continuation of this path under the leadership of Ali Khamenei, stating that he has pursued the same path of the Imam with simplicity, strength, and steadfastness toward the same objective. He added that the mission of the AhlulBayt World Assembly is to convey the discourse of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), rooted in Quranic verses and narrations, to intellectual elites and the global community, noting that the future’s victors will be those who offer the finest thought, ethics, and ideas to humanity.
