Western-backed anti-Iran resolution approved in UNHRC

The anti-Iran resolution presented at an emergency session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to dicuss the recent unrest in Iran was passed by a majority vote.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The anti-Iran resolution presented at an emergency session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to dicuss the recent unrest in Iran was passed by a majority vote.

In a politically motivated and biased move, the UN HRC approved an anti-Iranian resolution with the support of the United States and Western countries.

The anti-Iranian resolution was adopted in an emergency session of the Human Rights Council with 7 votes against, 25 votes in favor, and 14 abstentions.

Seven countries, China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Indonesia, Cuba, and Vietnam, voted against the anti-Iranian resolution.

Angola, Egypt, Ethiopia, Brazil, Gambia, Burundi, Qatar, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Thailand, Kenya, Kuwait, Malawi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo abstained from the resolution.

Mauritius was also absent from the session.

The resolution also emphasizes the continuation of the Human Rights Council's human rights follow-up on Iran and allegedly proposes extending the mandate of the Fact-Finding Committee and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights to continue collecting information and submitting subsequent reports.

The UN Human Rights Council, while ignoring many global developments, especially the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people and the genocide in the Gaza Strip, convened a meeting at the request of Iceland to support the rioters in Iran.

Iceland had asked the for the session.
