AhlulBayt News Agency: The former Federal Minister for Education and Chairman of the Islamic Democratic Front, Syed Munir Hussain Gilani, was visited at his DHA residence by Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi, President of Wifaq-ul-Madaris al-Shia Pakistan and Patron of Hawza Ilmiyya Jamia-tul-Muntazar.
He was accompanied by Maulana Mureed Hussain Naqvi, Maulana Ghulam Baqir Ghelo, and Maulana Ghulam Shabbir Najafi. The meeting was also attended by the well-known poet, writer, and columnist Professor Tanveer Haider Naqvi.
During the meeting, global and national issues were discussed, including American pressure on Iran, religious organizations, and religious seminaries. It was agreed that the Shia community enjoys strong unity at both national and international levels, which is encouraging. All organizations are ready to work together under one leadership on community matters.
It was noted that whenever unconstitutional actions were taken against the Shia community, they were successfully resisted. However, concern was expressed that problems related to Azadari (mourning rituals) still exist due to unconstitutional government policies, and more efforts are needed to resolve them. Despite this, there is strong national awareness that any sacrifice will be made, but no harm will be allowed to come to the mourning of Imam Hussain (A.S).
Memories of Maulana Safdar Hussain Najafi, Shaheed Dr. Muhammad Ali Naqvi, and Shaheed leader Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini were also recalled, and it was said that these great personalities played a vital role in protecting the Shia community.
Syed Munir Hussain Gilani thanked Hafiz Riaz Hussain Najafi for his visit and appreciated the practice of focusing on the Holy Qur’an in Friday sermons. He said that under Hafiz Najafi’s leadership, religious seminaries have progressed. He praised the expansion of the network of seminaries that was established during the time of Mohsin-e-Millat Maulana Safdar Hussain Najafi.
He said that instead of the traditional style, most scholars today present the teachings of the School of Ahl al-Bayt from the pulpit of Imam Hussain. He added that under a unified leadership system, the Shia community in Pakistan has protected its rights. This leadership tradition continued through Maulana Syed Muhammad Dehlvi, Mufti Jafar Hussain, Shaheed Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini, and Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi.
He said all leaders fulfilled their responsibilities according to the needs of their time, and the Shia community benefitted greatly. After the martyrdom of Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini, Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi has been leading the Shia community of Pakistan.
He emphasized that without active participation in politics, community rights cannot be protected. Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini decided to enter electoral politics in 1987, and that platform exists today as Islamic Tehreek Pakistan.
Allama Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi expressed satisfaction over the unity within the Shia community. He said that in the past, some youth were misled, but when Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi was arrested in a case related to the killing of a Takfiri leader, the nation and scholars realized that the real target of enemies of Ahl al-Bayt and Takfiri elements is the leadership of the Shia community, whom they want to keep trapped in different issues.
He said that two years ago, a controversial bill aimed at depriving Shias of their rights was passed by the National Assembly and Senate. However, on the encouragement of Sheikh Mohsin Ali Najafi, the call of Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi, and their collective support, scholars and speakers from across the country gathered in Islamabad. Just one announcement by Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi caused panic in the corridors of power, and the controversial bill was withdrawn.
He said that unity among Muslims is the need of the time. The Shia respect the beliefs of all schools of thought and do not impose their views on anyone, but they cannot step back from their own beliefs.
Hafiz Riaz Najafi stated that today, Iran and the Shia are standing as the defenders of Islam worldwide and fighting for Muslim rights. That is why American and Israeli agents target them.
He added that whether it is the United Board of Religious Seminaries or the Milli Yakjehti Council, these platforms speak about shared Islamic values and must continue. He also praised the political activism of Maulana Raja Nasir Abbas, head of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, and prayed for his further success.
