In a powerful Friday sermon, Ayatollah Seyyed Yassin Mousavi, a prominent Iraqi cleric and Friday prayer leader in Baghdad, warned of renewed U.S. efforts to destabilize the region and restore its dominance by fueling sectarian strife and political chaos.
Addressing worshippers, Ayatollah Mousavi stressed that Iran remains the primary obstacle to these imperialist agendas, particularly those targeting the Axis of Resistance in West Asia. He cautioned against the manipulative use of media and social networks, which, he said, aim to falsely portray Iraq as subservient to American interests—especially under U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Trump is no different from his predecessors,” he said, “but rather a continuation of the imperialist project that emerged after the fall of the Soviet Union, the retreat of Europe, and China’s inward economic focus.”
U.S. Dollar as a Tool of Economic Colonialism
Ayatollah Mousavi condemned Washington’s use of the U.S. dollar as a global tool of economic pressure, arguing that its dominance lacks real backing and is being used to weaken national economies.
“The dollar is just paper without real value,” he asserted. “Its forced use is a form of modern colonialism that results in currency collapse and economic hardship for sovereign nations.”
Iran's Resistance Disrupts Western Calculations
AhlulBayt News Agency: Referring to the recent Israeli-American aggression against Iran, Ayatollah Mousavi described it as part of the same imperialist strategy. However, he praised Iran’s retaliatory response as “shocking” and capable of shifting military and political equations in the region.
“The aggression may have caused martyrdom and destruction, but Iran’s precision strikes on critical military and intelligence facilities revealed the vulnerability of the Zionist regime and the waning aura of American deterrence.”
He also commended the joint Iranian-Iraqi response, calling it a clear signal that the region is no longer open to unchecked Western aggression.
BRICS and the Decline of U.S. Influence
Highlighting broader geopolitical shifts, Ayatollah Mousavi pointed to the growing influence of the BRICS alliance—especially following the inclusion of countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE—as a direct challenge to Western hegemony.
“The BRICS project has become a strategic threat to U.S. dominance,” he said. “In response, Washington is intensifying its destabilization efforts in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and beyond.”
Ayatollah Mousavi asserted that the United States can no longer impose its will in Iraq, noting that any American action will face direct consequences, especially in light of the unified public stance between Iran and Iraq following recent aggression.
Final Warning Against Psychological Warfare
In his concluding remarks, the Iraqi cleric warned against domestic voices promoting a spirit of defeat and dependence, calling them agents of Western psychological warfare.
“We must remain vigilant, aware, and committed to our historical responsibility to confront this project of domination,” he urged. “In the coming phase, U.S. influence will decline—and the Axis of Resistance will rise stronger than ever.”
