Sheikh Naim Qassem: Martyr Raisi’s support strengthened Islamic resistance movement

The secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah described former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi as one of the major figures supporting the Islamic resistance.

The secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah described former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi as one of the major figures supporting the Islamic resistance.

Addressing the international conference “Diplomacy of Resistance” via videoconference on Sunday, Sheikh Naim Qassem said Martyr Raisi had a great character and was a main supporter of resistance.

The conference was held in Tehran today on the anniversary of President Raisi’s martyrdom.

“We are very proud to stand with Palestine, Iran and all the freedom fighters and resistance fighters in the region as the axis of resistance,” Sheikh Qassem said.

“We chose the path of resistance in Lebanon, the path of Martyr Raisi, the path of Islam and freedom.”

He added that in general, the resistance in the region became strong thanks to the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and “Martyr Reisi was one of the most prominent people who supported us a lot.”

Martyr Reisi always sought to know the conditions of the resistance in the region and asked (then Hezbollah chief) Sayed Hassan Nasrallah about the developments and details of the situation in the region, he added.

He noted that Raisi held important positions during his life, including the head of the Astan Quds Rezavi, the head of the judiciary and then the president of the Republic of Iran before his martyrdom, but none of these positions changed his spirit and he was always humble and very close to the people and made great efforts to promote the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation lost their lives after the helicopter carrying them crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan due to harsh weather conditions on May 19, 2024.
