AhlulBayt News Agency: The Israeli military has carried out an aerial attack in southern Lebanon, violating a fragile ceasefire agreement. The strike killed at least one person and further escalated tensions between the two sides.
Lebanese media, citing anonymous local sources, reported that an Israeli drone fired a guided missile at a motorcycle traveling on the road connecting al-Mansouri neighborhood to Majdal Zoun town in Tyre district on Tuesday.
Israeli Army Radio claimed that the attack specifically targeted a Hezbollah resistance movement member.
This incident came just a day after another Hezbollah member was killed and three civilians were injured in a series of Israeli air and ground assaults across southern Lebanon.
According to the official National News Agency (NNA), an Israeli airstrike hit the outskirts of the village of Houla, leading to further casualties.
A Lebanese security source confirmed that Issa Qutaish, a Hezbollah member originally from Houla, was killed in the attack.
Meanwhile, NNA reported that two individuals were injured when an Israeli drone struck a motorcycle in the Wadi Sarbin area. Another person was wounded when Israeli forces opened fire at the entrance of Kafr Kila village.
On Saturday, the Israeli military claimed responsibility for another strike in southern Lebanon, saying it had killed a Hezbollah commander.
Israeli media outlets reported that the commander was targeted by a drone while inside a vehicle, alleging that he was “involved in the reestablishment of Hezbollah infrastructure in the area.”
Despite the ceasefire, Israel has continued its military operations in Lebanon, frequently conducting airstrikes across the country in clear violation of the agreement.
Lebanon had initially extended the ceasefire with Israel until February 18, 2025. However, despite the deadline passing, Israeli forces remain stationed in five key regions in southern Lebanon: Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill.
The Lebanese government has condemned Israel’s continued military presence as a breach of the ceasefire terms. Senior officials in Beirut have vowed to take "all necessary measures" to ensure the removal of occupying troops.
