AhlulBayt News Agency: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has raised alarm over the deepening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, describing the situation as “beyond imagination.”
During a U.N. Security Council open debate on the Middle East held on Tuesday, Guterres highlighted that since March 18, when Israel resumed airstrikes on Gaza, almost 2,000 Palestinians have lost their lives.
Accoding to IRNA, denouncing Israel's total blockade, which has cut off food, fuel, medicine, and other essential supplies from Gaza, Guterres accused the regime of depriving more than two million residents of critical humanitarian relief. He asserted, “Aid is non-negotiable” and called on Israel to safeguard civilians, approve relief efforts, and facilitate their delivery.
Guterres reiterated that Gaza “is—and must remain—an integral part of a future Palestinian state.”
Addressing the broader regional issues, he also urged Israel to honor the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon and respect the country's territorial sovereignty.
