Iraqi PMF: Targeting Journalists Is a War Crime

The Iraqi PMF declared targeting journalists during the performance of their media duties an obvious war crime and emphasized that the international community must support journalists in conflict zones.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Muhannad Al-Eqabi, Media Director of the Iraqi PMF, strongly condemned the assassination of two Lebanese journalists, Fatima Fattani and Ali Shaeib, during a press conference on the killings carried out by the Zionist regime.

He stated that targeting journalists while they are carrying out their professional duties constitutes a war crime, adding that the Lebanese journalists were engaged in their legitimate work at the time, and such actions qualify as crimes under all standards.

Al-Eqabi further highlighted the plight of journalists in conflict zones, noting that Iraqi journalists have been targeted in numerous countries and battlefields, yet major nations have failed to condemn these acts.

The PMF media director also criticized the silence of international institutions, stating that human rights organizations are today absent and take no action to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

Stressing the urgent need for international support for journalists who are targeted during wars and armed conflicts, he added: The blood of the martyrs will not be wasted.
