Newsweek reported that the arrests took place on Saturday near the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets against the demonstrators.
Newsweek stated that the clashes between police and protesters on Saturday were part of the largest protests in U.S. history, mobilizing at least 8 million people across more than 3,300 protest events in all 50 states.
According to a report by the American newspaper Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles was one of the cities involved, with over 100,000 people participating in organized local events. The arrests near the federal police detention center marked another pivotal point in the historic day of anti-Trump protests.
