Wall Street Journal Alleges: 2,200 US Marines Entering Region

The retreat of the President of the United States and his claim of a five-day delay in attacking Iran’s power plants comes amid reports from American sources alleging that 2,200 US Marines will soon arrive in the Middle East.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Yesterday, the US President, after several days of threatening Iran with attacks on power plants, retreated and claimed to have delayed this action by five days. Many analysts consider this move by Trump to be a pause for implementing another phase of U.S. operations in the region.

In this context, American sources alleged that 2,200 US Marines will soon enter the Middle East.

The American publication The Wall Street Journal, citing a number of US officials, reported that thousands of US Marine forces are scheduled to arrive in the Middle East on Friday, March 27. The arrival of these forces coincides with the same day that Trump has set as a final deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

According to this information, the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli and the USS New Orleans, along with 2,200 forces from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, will enter the area of responsibility of the US Central Command (CENTCOM). Additionally, the Pentagon has ordered the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, currently deployed on the USS Boxer, to be dispatched to the region in the coming weeks.

After the US President announced that he would delay military attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure for five days, oil prices in global markets fell by more than 10 percent.
