US Concerned About Depleting Missile Stockpiles as War Against Iran Continues

The United States of America, despite threatening to escalate attacks against Iran, is facing the challenge of a gradual depletion of its guided missile stockpiles.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) announced that despite threats from US President Donald Trump and his Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth against Iran to escalate attacks, the United States is in fact gradually depleting its stockpiles of guided missiles for targeting Iran.

The center added that the US has not yet achieved the necessary air superiority to extensively bomb Iranian cities without the risk of losing aircraft and pilots and will soon realize that there are limitations to escalating tensions.

The center estimated that the United States fired 786 JASSM missiles and 319 TLAM (Tomahawk) missiles in just the first six days of the recent war against Iran.

The report stated that before the war, the US had only 3,500 JASSM missiles in its inventory, and in the first six days, it consumed 22.4 percent of that stockpile. It added that it is highly likely that more than half of the stockpile of these missiles has now been depleted, as this weapon appears to be the primary long-range attack munition used by the US Air Force’s B-52, B-1, and B-2 bombers.

It was also noted that the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) did not place any new orders for JASSM missiles in 2026, so these stockpiles will not be replenished soon.

Regarding Tomahawk missiles, it was stated that the pre-war stockpile of the US military was approximately 3,200 missiles, meaning that in the first six days of the war against Iran, 10 percent of this inventory was consumed.

According to the same report from CSIS, the Pentagon ordered only 190 new Tomahawk missiles for 2026, slightly more than half the number fired in the first six days, and stockpiles of these cruise missiles have further decreased since then.
