AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Iranian diplomat has warned that Tehran will respond forcefully to any US military action, rejecting reports of secret or back-channel talks between Iran and the United States as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, said that even a limited US attack would provoke a severe and regrettable response from Iran. Writing on his X account, he stressed that Tehran will not remain passive in the face of military aggression.
According to IRNA, Gharibabadi said he recently told foreign journalists that the growing US military presence in the region and Washington’s increasingly hostile rhetoric are part of a broader pattern of pressure and destabilization efforts carried out by the United States and Israel. These efforts, he noted, include their brief military confrontation with Iran in June as well as support for riots and terrorist activities earlier this month.
“Our enemies have tried every tool—war, sanctions, threats, sabotage, and terrorism—but they have failed at every stage and achieved none of their objectives,” he said. “We hope that this time they will act rationally.”
The senior diplomat also categorically dismissed media speculation about indirect or back-channel negotiations between Tehran and Washington, emphasizing that such claims are unfounded amid the current climate of confrontation.
