Gunman’s sabotage attack causes blackout in Marib city

A gunman from the Al-Hur tribe carried out an attack that disrupted electricity in Marib city. The act was reportedly a protest against local authorities' neglect of power-related demands.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A gunman from the Al-Hur tribe in Wadi Abida district, under the control of Islah Party factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, carried out a sabotage attack on Sunday, resulting in a major power outage that plunged Marib city into darkness.

Local sources reported that the tribesman, Mabkhout Al-Hur, placed a metal rope on the power lines in the Al-Arqayn area, leading to the shutdown of the gas-powered station and the disruption of electricity across all areas.

According to reports, the act was motivated by frustration over the electricity authority’s failure to respond to the demands of the Al-Hur tribe and local residents for three consecutive days, despite Al-Hur personally purchasing an electrical transformer. Following the incident, he surrendered to Islah authorities in Marib.

This attack highlights the ongoing security instability and the lack of state control in coalition-held areas of Marib and Wadi Abida district, where the presence of armed groups continues to rise.
