AhlulBayt News Agency: The Islamic Republic of Iran Army has received three new domestically designed vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drones, capable of various missions and transitioning to fixed-wing flight for enhanced efficiency and range.
The newly unveiled military hardware, named Homa, Dideban (Watchdog), and Shahin-1 (Falcon-1) first-person view (FPV) suicide drones, were showcased at the Iranian Army's drone and air base in Zahedan on Thursday.
The Homa VTOL drone can operate at altitudes exceeding 12,000 feet (3,657 meters). It specializes in reconnaissance missions, particularly in electronic warfare settings, equipped with night vision and eliminating the need for a runway.
The Dideban drone, set to join the Iranian Army’s Ground Force, is a lightweight and portable UAV designed for day and night operations, capable of pinpointing precise target locations. It flies at altitudes of up to 6,000 feet and conducts reconnaissance and targeting missions in various electronic warfare environments.
One of its unique features is the ability to function in coordinated groups, enabling simultaneous surveillance and targeting across multiple areas.
The Shahin-1 FPV suicide drone represents a modern advancement in aerial combat capabilities. With continuous flight operations, high speed, and maneuverability, it is designed to strike and eliminate both fixed and mobile enemy targets effectively.
Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force, Brigadier General Nozar Nemati, emphasized Iran’s commitment to advancing battlefield technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles, artificial intelligence, and indigenous defense development.
He highlighted that Iran's investments in research, planning, and military innovation have positioned the Ground Force as a pioneering force in deploying modern defense technologies.
Iranian military engineers have made substantial progress in developing a wide range of indigenous military equipment, ensuring self-sufficiency in defense production.
Officials reaffirm Iran’s stance on strengthening military capabilities, including missile defense, asserting that national security initiatives will never be subject to negotiation.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has repeatedly called for continued enhancement of Iran’s defense capabilities.
