AhlulBayt News Agency: A spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned that Iran will deliver a devastating response to any act of aggression by Israel, stressing that the Tel Aviv regime underestimates the Iranian nation's strength in supporting the Islamic Republic during conflicts.
Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, IRGC spokesman and deputy head of the Public Relations Department, made the remarks on Thursday. His statements were seen as a response to a CNN report suggesting that Israel is preparing for a potential strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“They attempt to intimidate us with the threat of war,” Naeini said. “Claiming that a country with strong popular and military support fears war is a miscalculation by an enemy that fails to grasp the Iranian nation’s resilience.”
According to CNN, citing multiple US officials, Israel has been moving air munitions and conducting military exercises, signaling a state of heightened readiness.
Naeini asserted that Israel misjudges Iran’s power and fails to recognize that, in the event of war, the Iranian people will mobilize, just as they did during the Iran-Iraq War.
“If the Israeli regime commits any reckless aggression, it will undoubtedly receive a crushing and decisive response within its small and vulnerable occupied territory,” he warned.
The IRGC spokesman emphasized that the past 46 years, since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, have demonstrated that overthrowing the Islamic Republic is impossible. He claimed that recent unrest also reinforced this reality.
In retaliation for Israel’s bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, 2024—which killed two Iranian generals—the IRGC launched Operation True Promise I, firing over 300 missiles and drones at Israeli military targets.
Later, Operation True Promise II, initiated on October 1, 2024, was Iran’s response to the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, and IRGC General Abbas Nilforoushan. This operation involved around 200 ballistic missiles targeting Israeli military sites.
“We have strengthened our military capabilities in various fields,” Naeini stated. “The Zionist regime’s very existence is within the range of Iran’s fighters. The occupying Israel is propped up by the US and weakening Western governments, but until Israel is eradicated, stability will not return to the world and the region.”
Earlier on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also warned Israel against any reckless action, asserting, “Iran will respond forcefully to any transgression and will stop at nothing to protect its interests and people.”
