Iran demands fair legal process for nationals detained in Britain

Iran and Britain have had diplomatic tensions over security-related accusations, particularly concerning alleged Iranian activities in Europe. Tehran has consistently denied involvement and demanded proof for British claims.

AhlulBayt News Agency: British authorities have arrested another Iranian national in London, sparking concerns over politically motivated charges influenced by anti-Iran groups.

The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was detained at his home in northwest London on Friday morning. He was accused of planning an attack on the Israeli embassy in the British capital, an allegation widely perceived as baseless.

His arrest follows the detention of three other Iranian men—aged 39, 44, and 55—at separate addresses in London on Saturday. Additionally, four more individuals were arrested in various locations across England.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi firmly rejected the accusations. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, he stated that Iran had not been officially informed of any allegations through diplomatic channels.

“We are seeing media reports claiming that Iranian nationals are allegedly involved in a supposed plot against the Israeli embassy in London,” he wrote.

“Iran categorically denies any involvement in such actions and confirms that no official communication has been made via diplomatic channels.”

Araghchi criticized third parties for attempting to sabotage diplomatic efforts and escalate tensions, warning that such provocations—including false flag operations—threaten stability in the region. His remarks were widely interpreted as a reference to Israel’s alleged role in such incidents.

Iran, he stated, remains committed to clarifying the circumstances of these arrests and ensuring that its citizens receive fair legal treatment. “We reiterate that UK authorities must provide due process for our citizens,” he added.

In April, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, denounced similar allegations made by Britain, calling them "baseless and unjust." London had accused Tehran of links to criminal groups in Europe without providing evidence.

Baghaei argued that these accusations are part of a larger blame game designed to distract from Britain’s own destabilizing activities in West Asia. He emphasized that despite repeated requests, UK officials have failed to present credible proof of their claims.
