Businesses shut down in Karachi in solidarity with oppressed Palestinians

Israel has broken the ceasefire and continues its brutal bombing campaign against Palestinian civilians in Gaza. In response, Muslims around the world are showing solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Major markets in Karachi are closed today (Monday) in solidarity with the Palestinian people, following an appeal by the city’s trade organizations.

Trade leaders have confirmed that key commercial areas in the city — including Sarafa Bazaar, Jodia Bazaar, Dawa Bazaar, Meethadar, and other wholesale markets in the old city — are shut today.

The Karachi Traders Alliance, Electronics Market Association, and other trade organizations have also announced their support for the strike to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and protest against Israeli brutality.

All markets and business centers across the city are closed. Trader leader Rizwan Irfan had appealed to fellow businessmen to shut their shops today to demonstrate full support for their oppressed Palestinian brothers. He also strongly condemned Israel’s barbaric actions.

As a result, shops in Karachi’s mobile market, electronics market, wholesale markets, Jodia Bazaar, Aram Bagh, and other commercial hubs are closed. Trader leader Shakir Fancy stated that Meethadar, the old city area, and Sarafa Bazaar have also been closed in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Wholesale markets across Karachi have joined the protest against the Israeli aggression and atrocities in Gaza. Trade leader Abdur Rauf Ibrahim stated that the country’s largest wholesale market, Jodia Bazaar, is closed today. The Aram Bagh Traders Association also fully supported the strike and kept their businesses shut.

It is important to note that Israel has resumed intense bombing in Gaza despite the ceasefire, targeting civilians including women, children, and journalists. These actions continue even after condemnation from the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). American-made weapons are also being used in this war.

In response, the Islamic Jihad Movement has called for a global strike today to raise a collective voice against the Israeli bombings in Gaza, the U.S.-backed military aggression, and the ongoing genocide of defenseless Muslims.
