Shiite Muslims should be given equal representation in relevant institutions of curriculum: Pakistani cleric

Central leader of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan, Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, has said that the position of Shia Muslims being ignored in the current curriculum.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Central leader of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan, Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, has said that the position of Shia Muslims being ignored in the current curriculum.

The nation should be represented in the relevant institutions. In his statement, the central leader of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan and Chairman of the Curriculum Committee, Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, demanded that all schools of thought living in Pakistan be given equal representation in national, educational and religious institutions including the Curriculum Council, the Islamic Ideology Council, and the Federal Sharia Court.

He said that Shia Muslims are being continuously ignored in the current system and curriculum, which is a clear violation of the Constitution of Pakistan and Islamic principles.

Allama Domki, while presenting seven demands, said that Section 6, Part 3 of the Muttahida Ulema Board Act should be amended so that decisions are made by consensus in the light of the beliefs of all schools of thought instead of majority pressure.

He demanded that In the light of the recommendations of the meeting of the Islamic Ideology Council, the process of changing the agreed upon Durood Sharif, which has been practiced for centuries, be stopped, and a new curriculum should be formulated on the model of 1975, incorporating the demands of millions of Shia and Sunni Muslims of the country regarding the controversial curriculum.

He said that Shiites should be given equal representation in the Islamic Ideology Council Pakistan, as in the Muttahida Ulema Board.

He demands that scholars of all schools of thought should be given equal representation in the National Curriculum Council and Curriculum Committees.

All four schools of thought should be included in the review committees of religious books of textbook boards.

He demanded that Islamic scholars be recruited from all four schools of thought. The approval of Islamic manuscripts should require the permission and consensus of a committee of scholars comprising all schools of thought.

The practice of forcibly imposing one’s beliefs on any sect on the basis of majority is in no way right.

Allama Maqsood Domki said that the continuous neglect of Shia Muslims is against the Constitution of Pakistan’s fundamental civil rights and national unity.

Approximately seven crore Shia Muslims living in Pakistan are currently deprived of representation in various state institutions.

The lack of representation of Shia scholars on the Sharia Court, the Council of Islamic Ideology and other important platforms is a matter of concern.

In some institutions, only one or two people are represented, which does not meet the requirements of justice.

He added that if the government truly believes in religious harmony, unity of the Ummah and equality, then all decisions and appointments should be made under the principle of equal representation.

And the controversial curriculum should be reorganized on the model of the 1975 curriculum, freeing it from sectarian bias.
