People target KFC, Bata as nationwide protests condemn Israeli aggression

Angry people in Bangladesh are calling for a boycott of Israeli-linked products in solidarity with Palestinians

AhlulBayt News Agency: Protests erupted in Bangladesh on Monday, with angry people targeting Israeli-linked businesses, such as Bata, KFC and Pizza Hut in Bogra, Sylhet, Cox’s Bazar and other districts, condemning Israeli aggression in Gaza and demanding a product boycott.

In protest against the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza and to demand a boycott of Israeli products, a large mob of students and crowds gathered in Bogra city for a demonstration in the afternoon.

The protest, which began with a march from various educational institutions, culminated at the heart of the city, Satmatha, where demonstrators broke into the Bata showroom, smashing its glass walls.

The protestors, armed with banners, placards and festoons, raised slogans condemning the genocide in Palestine and demanding the boycott of Israeli products.

Following the march, the demonstrators targeted the Bata showroom by throwing bricks and damaging its glass facade.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogra Sadar police station SM Moinuddin confirmed that although the protestors threw bricks at the showroom, breaking the glass, no major untoward incidents occurred.

Additionally, students from various institutions, including Govt Azizul Haque College in Bogra, joined the protests under the banner of "General Students, Bogra," condemning Israel’s aggression in Gaza.

In Sylhet, angry protestors targeted a KFC restaurant in the Mirboxtula area, smashing bottles of various soft drinks linked to Israel.

Protestors also urged the Bangladesh government and the United Nations to take immediate action to enforce a boycott of Israeli products.

Speakers at the rally condemned the brutal attacks on innocent children, women and civilians in Gaza, saying that humanity must stand against such atrocities.

In Cox’s Bazar, a similar protest took place in the Kalatali area, where demonstrators threw stones at the signboards of KFC and Pizza Hut, as these are seen as Israeli-associated products.

A video circulating on social media showed hundreds of people targeting the KFC and Pizza Hut signs with stones, breaking the glass windows.

This series of protests across various cities reflects widespread anger in Bangladesh against Israel’s actions in Gaza, with calls for a boycott of Israeli products and solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Protesters in the port city of Chittagong also vandalized two Israeli-linked restaurants — KFC and Pizza Hut — during a demonstration against Israeli military actions in Gaza.

The demonstration, held in protest of the ongoing Israeli assault and genocide in Gaza, turned violent near the city’s GEC intersection around 4:15pm, when angry demonstrators hurled stones, bricks, and shoes at the outlets, breaking the front glass panels of both restaurants.
