Inflation, war against Iran; most important electoral concern of Americans

The results of the latest surveys show that the increase in living costs after the start of America and Israel's war against Iran has become the most important electoral concern of American voters in the congressional midterm elections and has reduced Donald Trump's popularity to 32 percent.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Surveys show that the increase in living costs is the most important issue occupying Americans' minds when they go to the polls in Tuesday's congressional midterm elections.

Donald Trump claims that through war, he has prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon; but the majority of the American people oppose all these costs for this war, and now covering living costs and the excessive rise in prices after the start of the war with Iran has become their most important electoral concern.

According to a Reuters/Ipsos survey, about 48 percent of registered voters believe that living costs are the most important issue in their decision to vote. In contrast, 26 percent have considered democratic norms and 13 percent the issue of immigration as their most important issue. Fuel prices in America have risen sharply since the start of America and Israel's war against Iran in February.

55 percent opposition to the costs of the war against Iran

55 percent of the American people, that is, more than half of Americans, have opposed Trump's exorbitant costs for the war against Iran. This comes as Trump constantly tries to pretend that this war was the wish of the American people and that he is the savior of Americans.

About 49 percent of Americans believe that their household's financial situation has worsened since January 2025, when Trump once again took power. In contrast, 13 percent have said their financial situation has improved and 37 percent also believe that conditions have not changed.

Trump, before the November 2024 presidential elections, advanced his election campaign with the promise of significantly strengthening the American economy; but he did not fulfill his promises and, by warmongering, sharply increased living costs for the American people.

The latest surveys also report a decline in the American president's popularity to 32 percent. The war against Iran and the increase in fuel prices and living costs have been cited as the most important reasons for this decline in popularity.
