ABNA24 - A large number of people attended the closing ceremony of Tanzania’s 34th International Holy Quran Award in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Winners of the competition were announced and awarded at the ceremony.

The competition featured 26 contestants representing 26 countries from around the world and was held at the National Stadium in the capital, Dar es Salaam, before a large audience exceeding 60,000 spectators.

They were from Egypt, Brazil, Bangladesh, Comoros, Kenya, Uganda, India, Canada, Mauritania, United Kingdom, Australia, United States, South Africa, Germany, Russia, France, Libya, Turkey, Nigeria, Syria, Yemen, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Zanzibar and Tanzania.

The speakers at the closing ceremony said that holding this Holy Quran competition underscores efforts to build bridges of friendship and cooperation in Quranic fields and spreading Quranic teachings and noble values worldwide.

The purpose of this annual competition is to encourage memorization of the Quran and mastery of its recitation, to discover and cultivate Quranic talents at the international level, as well as to strengthen the noble Islamic values ​​and establish a moderate and moderate approach, according to the organizers.

The contenders competed in the category of memorization of the entire Quran and in two age groups: adult memorizers and young memorizers.
