Pakistan Shia Cleric: Social Justice is Not Possible Without Economic Justice

Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi, head of the Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, said that social justice is not possible without economic justice.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi, head of the Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, said that social justice is not possible without economic justice. He added that the current global economic and political system has become extremely unjust.

Speaking on World Day of Social Justice and at a meeting of the “Board of Peace,” he said that the “Social Protection Floor Initiative,” introduced by the United Nations in 2009, was based on principles such as basic social guarantees, equality, respect for diversity, access to social protection, and the implementation of human rights.

However, over the past decade, global imperialism and an unjust economic and political system have weakened these goals.

Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi said that the worst examples of ongoing conflicts and crises in the world can be seen in Gaza Strip, West Bank, Khan Yunis, Jerusalem, Lebanon, Syria, as well as Iraq, Afghanistan, Rohingya, and Sudan, where basic human rights are being violated.

He said that in such conditions, how can the dream of social justice be fulfilled? He further stated that social justice requires that every person should have the right to a safe life, healthcare, education, decent employment, cultural and religious freedom, and freedom of expression. However, in the current global environment, these rights are under serious threat.
