AhlulBayt News Agency: Hundreds of human rights activists and civil society organizations in Vienna held a protest against the law banning the hijab for girls under 14 years old. Protesters are calling for the repeal of the law and the protection of religious freedoms.

In the Austrian capital, Vienna, a large-scale demonstration took place against the new Austrian parliamentary law that bans the hijab in schools for girls under the age of 14.

Hundreds of human rights activists and representatives of civil society organizations participated and raised slogans against the restriction of religious freedoms.

They demand the repeal of the law and a review of the country's multicultural policies.

Activists and civil society organizations, along with the Austrian Equality Authority, have strongly expressed their opposition to this law and emphasized that it targets only a specific community, increases the sense of marginalization among Muslim minorities, and hinders their educational process.

According to the law, violators are fined up to 800 euros, and in the case of repeat offenses, there is a possibility of imprisonment.

Austria has currently begun the awareness phase for the implementation of the law, but legal experts indicate that the law might be challenged in the Constitutional Court.
