Iraqi PMU Prepares to Secure Mid-Shaaban Ceremonies

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (Hashd al-Shaabi) announced its readiness to implement a special security plan for the Mid-Shaaban ceremonies.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (Hashd al-Shaabi) announced its readiness to implement a special security plan for the Mid-Shaaban ceremonies.

The PMU said in a statement that it has taken preventive measures and preparations to secure the holy city of Karbala and surrounding areas, held coordination meetings at the Middle Euphrates Operations Command, and actively participated in meetings with security forces about the plans for the Mid-Shaaban ceremony.

The statement added that the PMU has mobilized its security and organizational efforts through a large-scale military deployment around Karbala, under the supervision of the Middle Euphrates Operations Command.

This deployment includes a security force and the establishment of inspection filters to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims, it said.

The PMU has allocated vehicles to transport pilgrims, dispatched dozens of trucks full of water and food, set up dozens of service tents in the holy city of Karbala and along the pilgrim routes, and provided the necessary fuel to support public vehicles, the statement said.

In this regard, the Middle Euphrates Operations Command held a special security meeting to review the plan to ensure the security of the Mid-Shaaban pilgrimage.

The meeting was chaired by Brigadier General Ali Al-Hamdani and was attended by commanders and representatives of all units participating in the implementation of this mission.

In this meeting, field and service preparations, as well as coordination mechanisms between units, were reviewed to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and strengthen security and stability during the pilgrimage.

The Mid-Shaaban Eid, marking the birth anniversary of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent), falls on the 15th day of the lunar Hijri month of Shaaban.

Shia Muslims all over the world celebrated the auspicious occasion on Wednesday, February 4, this year.
