Shia Scholar: Imam Hussein (A.S) Advocated for Welfare of All Humanity

Allama Sajid Naqvi, said that Imam Hussein (A.S) did not just work for the welfare of a single group but delivered a message for the betterment of all humanity.

In a message commemorating the departure of the Hussaini caravan from Medina to Makkah on the 28th of Rajab, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi stated that the first phase of Imam Hussein's (A.S) struggle was the refusal to pledge allegiance to the unlawful caliphate of Yazid, for the establishment of Islam’s universal, just, and human-friendly system.

The second phase involved leaving his ancestral home in Medina for the cause of truth, which was an extraordinary and unparalleled sacrifice.

Allama Naqvi explained that on the night of 28th Rajab, 60 AH, Imam Hussein (A.S), accompanied by most of his family members and some companions, bid farewell to his grandfather, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and left Medina for Makkah.

He said that Imam Hussein (AS) recited the verse 18 of Surah Al-Qasas as he left Medina, announcing, “I have left for the reform of my grandfather's ummah,” thus clearly declaring the purpose of his great journey.

Allama Sajid Naqvi further mentioned that Imam Hussein (A.S) made his goals and objectives clear during his stops at various places along his journey from Medina to Makkah, and later from Makkah to Karbala, especially when he converted his pilgrimage (Hajj) into Umrah.

He Added: Imam Hussein’s (A.S) firm stance on his mission dispelled all misconceptions and misunderstandings. Despite the inevitable reality of death, Imam Hussein (AS) remained resolute in his position and was never willing to compromise. This is why Imam Hussein (AS) rejected all the worldly, financial, governmental, and personal offers made by the rulers, preferring only the implementation of a just system based on the Quran and Sunnah.

This approach, Allama Naqvi said, carries a timeless message for humanity, regardless of era.

He stated that Imam Hussein's (A.S) unparalleled struggle continues to inspire freedom movements across the world today. All those fighting against outdated, unjust, tyrannical, and autocratic systems find in Imam Hussein’s (A.S) movement a beacon of light and a living example.

Imam Hussein (A.S), according to Allama Naqvi, did not just work for the welfare of one class but advocated for the welfare of all humanity.

He specifically exposed the conspiracies against the deprived, oppressed, and marginalized groups, and highlighted the irregularities, injustices, corruption, nepotism, unjust distribution of resources, and violations of citizens’ basic rights by the rulers.

Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi concluded by saying that Imam Hussein’s (A.S) actions serve as an exemplary model for the world today. His noble struggle is a guiding light for people of every community and faith, and anyone, regardless of their religious or sectarian background, can draw inspiration from this great movement.
