AhlulBayt News Agency: Preparations are underway for a landmark Nahj al-Balagha Conference scheduled to take place on January 11 at the historic Imambara of Akbarpur, marking the birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S), cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The day-long conference, to be held from morning till evening, is being organized through the joint efforts of Kitabkhana Ilm-o-Danish, Lucknow, and the Shia community of Ambedkar Nagar district.
Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi emphasized that Nahj al-Balagha, a celebrated compilation of sermons, letters, and sayings attributed to Imam Ali, offers comprehensive guidance and remedies for both individual and collective social challenges.
Maulana Rizvi noted that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had recently urged scholars, cultural workers, and intellectuals to give special attention to Nahj al-Balagha. In response, Kitabkhana Ilm-o-Danish organized Nahj al-Balagha classes for men and women across India, culminating in the upcoming national-level conference.
According to the organizers, extensive outreach efforts are underway across Ambedkar Nagar district and on social media platforms. Religious scholars and community leaders are appealing to the public to attend, while notable enthusiasm has been observed among youth and young professionals.
The conference will be jointly presided over by Maulana Syed Zaheer Abbas (Mumbai) and Maulana Syed Nadeem Raza Zaidi (Faizabad). Distinguished speakers include Maulana Syed Ehtesham Abbas Zaidi (Jaunpur), Maulana Syed Mushahid Alam Rizvi (Hallaur), Maulana Syed Shahid Hussain Maysam (Aligarh), Dr. Shaukat Ali Mirza (Hyderabad), and Dr. Syed Zigham Abbas (Lucknow).
Introductory sessions on Nahj al-Balagha will be presented by Maulana Syed Noor-ul-Hasan, Imam of Friday Prayers at Machhli Gaon, and Maulana Dr. Rahbar Raza Sultani, Imam of Friday Prayers at Jalalpur. Recitation of the Holy Quran at the beginning of both sessions will be performed by Maulana Ejaz Hussain Kashmiri. Poetic tributes will be offered by Suhail Bastavi and Professor Maulana Asghar Ejaz (Aligarh Muslim University).
Renowned academic and literary figure Professor Abbas Raza Nair Jalalpuri, Head of the Urdu Department at Lucknow University, will conduct the proceedings as master of ceremonies.
Maulana Rizvi has issued an open invitation to people of all faiths and backgrounds to attend the conference, stating: “This is an opportunity to understand what Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said and how his message remains relevant to humanity today.”
The event will also feature an exhibition of books related to Nahj al-Balagha, and participants will be able to purchase a specially published, elegantly designed edition of Nahj al-Balagha by Kitabkhana Ilm-o-Danish at a discounted price.
The organizers describe the conference as a significant cultural and intellectual milestone aimed at reviving engagement with one of the most influential texts in Islamic thought.
