Iranian police dismantle ammunition smuggling network in Lorestan Province

AhlulBayt News Agency: Authorities in Lorestan Province, western Iran, have dismantled a smuggling network involved in transporting military-grade ammunition, provincial police chief Brigadier General Yahya Elahi announced on Tuesday.

According to a statement from his office, the operation took place in the city of Pol-e Dokhtar after local law enforcement, acting on intelligence, identified two suspicious Samand sedans carrying three individuals along a main roadway. Upon noticing police presence, the suspects attempted to flee the scene, prompting officers to open fire and disable the vehicles. All three suspects were apprehended at the site.

According to IRNA, a subsequent search of the vehicles revealed a stockpile of over 22,000 Kalashnikov rounds. Preliminary investigations suggest that the ammunition had been picked up from western provinces and was destined for delivery to southern regions of the country.

This operation comes amid heightened nationwide security measures following recent U.S. and Israeli acts of aggression, which Tehran says have included sabotage and espionage operations attributed to Israeli agents.
