Iran may ban IAEA chief over role in Israeli-US aggression

Iranian lawmaker Esmaeil Kowsari proposed banning IAEA chief Rafael Grossi over his alleged complicity in Israeli and U.S. aggression.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian lawmaker Esmaeil Kowsari, a member of the parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, voiced strong criticism on Monday against IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, accusing him of enabling Israeli and U.S. aggression against Iran.

Kowsari, a former IRGC commander, said he has formally requested that the Supreme National Security Council ban Grossi from entering Iran.

If approved, the ban would block Grossi’s visits to Iran and impact the country’s cooperation with the UN nuclear agency.

Although the IAEA continues to monitor Iran’s nuclear sites, it has faced growing backlash for allegedly allowing Israeli influence to shape its actions.

Critics say Grossi’s politically driven reports led the IAEA Board of Governors to pass an anti-Iran resolution on June twelfth, accusing Tehran of violating nuclear commitments.

Iranian officials, citing documents obtained from Israel, claim Grossi has been following directives from the Israeli regime in his actions against Iran.

Following the resolution, Israel launched a series of attacks on Iranian soil, targeting military leaders, scientists, and civilians. The Natanz nuclear site was among the targets.

On Sunday, the United States bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Esfahan, in what Tehran says is a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Grossi’s silence on these attacks has drawn sharp criticism from Iranian officials.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi accused Grossi of becoming a tool of the U.S. and Israel, calling him complicit in crimes against Iran.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Grossi had betrayed the non-proliferation regime and turned the IAEA into a partner in an unjust war.

Ali Larijani, senior advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei, warned that Grossi would be held accountable after the conflict ends.

Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, stated that Tehran will take all necessary legal steps to defend its rights and hold Grossi responsible for his inaction.
