AhlulBayt News Agency: The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, reaffirmed on Tuesday that Iran’s nuclear program will continue to grow despite recent attacks on its peaceful nuclear facilities.
Kamalvandi emphasized that the country’s nuclear industry is deeply embedded in Iran’s scientific and technological foundation and cannot be dismantled by external forces.
“This industry is rooted in our nation and cannot be uprooted,” he said. “With the capabilities we possess, the development of this sector must and will continue.”
His remarks followed U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—all under full IAEA supervision—which Washington claimed were intended to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
President Donald Trump asserted that the strikes aimed to eliminate Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, a claim dismissed by Iranian officials.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded by stating that Iran’s nuclear program is based on indigenous expertise and cannot be destroyed by military force.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi warned that the U.S. strikes could undermine the global nuclear non-proliferation regime.
Just days before the attacks, the IAEA issued a controversial report accusing Iran of non-compliance, followed by a resolution pushed by European states and backed by the U.S.
Analysts argue that the report and resolution paved the way for Israel’s June 13 assault, which resulted in the assassination of nuclear scientists and senior military officials.
The IAEA’s actions sparked outrage in Tehran. AEOI chief Mohammad Eslami vowed to defend Iran’s rights and pursue legal action against Grossi for failing to condemn the Israeli attacks.
Former Foreign Minister Javad Zarif also criticized Grossi’s report, calling it irresponsible and damaging to the agency’s credibility.
