Iran’s Parliament approves suspending cooperation with IAEA

In a decisive move, the Iranian Parliament has voted to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), following recent attacks on the country’s nuclear infrastructure by the United States and Israel.

AhlulBayt News Agency: In a decisive move, the Iranian Parliament has voted to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), following recent attacks on the country’s nuclear infrastructure by the United States and Israel.

During Tuesday’s open parliamentary session, lawmakers overwhelmingly approved the general outline of a bill mandating the suspension, with 221 votes in favor, none against, and one abstention out of 223 members present.

The measure comes in response to what Iran considers a grave violation of international law. On June 13, following Israeli military actions against Iran, U.S. forces launched coordinated aerial strikes on three nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan—an escalation Tehran claims infringes upon the United Nations Charter and international norms.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) has condemned the attacks as a direct breach of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), asserting that such aggression will not deter the Islamic Republic from advancing its peaceful nuclear agenda. Iranian officials reiterated that the country will use every legitimate measure to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests in the face of external threats.
