UN reports mass displacement of Palestinians as Israel escalates Gaza attacks

The UN reports that over 632,000 Palestinians have been displaced since Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza, violating a two-month ceasefire. The humanitarian crisis has worsened, with hundreds of aid workers killed and Gaza’s health system devastated.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The UN humanitarian agency reports that more than 630,000 Palestinians have been displaced since Israel broke the nearly two-month ceasefire with Hamas in Gaza.

In its latest humanitarian update, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that at least 632,000 people had been displaced again since March 18.

The OCHA analysis found that Israel has issued over 30 forced displacement orders covering 68 out of 79 neighborhoods, some multiple times, since breaking the ceasefire.

Israel has systematically moved civilians into five restricted zones that now constitute less than 20% of Gaza through mass displacement orders and military strikes.

Combined with expanding Israeli military "no-go" zones, over 80% of Gaza has become inaccessible to its residents.

Due to the scale and frequency of these orders, finding safe refuge has become nearly impossible for displaced Palestinians.

The pattern indicates a deliberate attempt to dismantle and depopulate Gaza—an act of forced displacement recognized as a war crime.

Israel’s far-right coalition, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, has embraced Donald Trump's proposal to permanently remove Palestinians from Gaza and redevelop it into a seaside real estate hub.

The OCHA report also revealed that Israeli attacks killed approximately 30 humanitarian workers in May alone.

"At least 28 aid workers have lost their lives since May 1," the statement emphasized.

Since the war began on October 7, 2023, a total of 452 humanitarian workers have been killed.

Additionally, the UN agency noted that Gaza’s health system has been devastated by Israeli military operations and overwhelmed by ongoing violence.

Meanwhile, dozens of civilians were killed on Sunday morning when Israeli forces fired on Palestinians heading toward an aid distribution center in southern Gaza.

Hamas condemned the massacre as evidence of Israel’s fascist policies, arguing that targeting civilians proves premeditated intent.

The group held Israel and the US administration fully accountable for the killings and accused them of using starvation as a weapon of war against Palestinians.

Hamas urged the UN to establish an independent international commission to enter Gaza, investigate the alleged crimes, and prosecute those responsible as war criminals.

International aid groups have warned that Israel’s plan to control humanitarian aid distribution, including US-backed initiatives, will only worsen conditions in Gaza.
