AhlulBayt News Agency: Shehbaz Sharif praised the recent visit of Iran’s Foreign Minister to Islamabad and welcomed Iran’s initiative in proposing a ceasefire, calling it a constructive and effective step toward reducing tensions.
Reviewing recent developments between Pakistan and India—from cross-border fire exchanges to the current ceasefire—Sharif noted that although the two countries have fought three wars in past decades, none of them has resolved the core issues between the two nations. He emphasized that disputes such as Kashmir, terrorism, and other differences can only be solved through dialogue and political solutions.
The Prime Minister welcomed the current de-escalation and the ongoing ceasefire and once again appreciated President Pezeshkian's role in fostering this positive development. He also expressed hope to visit Tehran soon and have a warm and friendly meeting with Iran’s president to discuss common interests and regional issues.
President Pezeshkian, in response, expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire and start of peace talks between Pakistan and India. He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes war and violence only increase the suffering of nations and do not solve any problems. Instead, dialogue and cooperation are the true path to lasting peace.
Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s consistent policy of supporting peace, stability, and security in the region, and said Tehran is ready to help strengthen dialogue and build better relations between Pakistan and India—and also between Iran and Pakistan.
Highlighting terrorism as one of the main challenges in the region, the Iranian president said that fighting this shared threat requires unity, coordination, and brotherhood among regional countries.
In closing, President Pezeshkian welcomed the Pakistani Prime Minister’s planned visit to Tehran and expressed hope that the trip would deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation in mutual areas of interest.
