AhlulBayt News Agency: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has urged the international community to ramp up pressure on Israel to end its military actions in Gaza, condemning what he described as a "massacre" of Palestinians. He also announced plans for a UN resolution seeking a legal ruling on humanitarian aid access to the territory.
Speaking at the Arab League Summit in Baghdad on Saturday, Sánchez accused Israel of violating fundamental humanitarian principles, citing the devastating toll of the conflict. "The catastrophic humanitarian crisis Gaza has suffered since October 2023 has resulted in over 50,000 deaths, 100,000 injuries, and the displacement of two million people," he stated, as reported by Al Arabiya News.
According to Mehr, the Spanish leader emphasized the need for diplomatic and legal efforts to halt Israel’s military operations. "We must use every available channel under international law to intensify pressure on Israel and put an end to this massacre," he declared.
Sánchez further revealed that Spain will present a proposal to the United Nations General Assembly requesting the International Court of Justice to evaluate Israel’s compliance with its obligations on humanitarian aid access to Gaza, which has been under a complete blockade since March 2.
His remarks come amid growing calls for decisive action from global leaders to address the worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza and ensure unrestricted delivery of aid.
