Hamas praises retaliatory shooting operation in West Bank’s Bruqin

Hamas praised a retaliatory shooting operation in the occupied West Bank, calling it a reflection of Palestinian resistance. Abu Obeida urged Palestinians to defend al-Aqsa Mosque and confront Israeli aggression. Israeli forces have launched a manhunt following the attack.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Hamas resistance group has praised a retaliatory shooting operation in the occupied West Bank, stating that Palestinians will continue to fight against Israeli crimes and attempts to seize more land.

Hamas made the announcement on Wednesday after a passing vehicle came under gunfire near the central West Bank town of Bruqin in the Salfit Governorate.

Two Israeli settlers were wounded in the attack, one of whom later died in the hospital.

Hamas described the attack as a reflection of the true pulse of the West Bank and the spirit of resistance inherent in the Palestinian people. The group emphasized that Palestinians refuse to accept injustice and aggression and will continue to respond to Israeli crimes, aggression, and plans aimed at controlling Palestinian land and displacing its people for further occupation expansion.

The movement also called on Palestinians in the West Bank to carry out more operations against Israeli settler groups and to unite behind the option of resistance and steadfastness in the face of Israeli policies.

Meanwhile, Abu Obeida, spokesman for al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, praised the "heroic" shooting operation, stating that it was carried out by "the bravest of our people" in the West Bank.

He urged Palestinians to rise up in defense of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, confront Israeli aggression in the West Bank, and support the people of Gaza amid the ongoing war.

Israeli forces have launched a manhunt for the shooter and have encircled Bruqin.

Israel intensified its offensive against the occupied West Bank on January 21, claiming that it was targeting resistance fighters from the Jenin Battalion.

Since October 7, 2023, when Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza, violence in the West Bank has escalated. Israeli forces and settlers have killed over 960 Palestinians in the occupied territory.
