Iran Nuclear Conference opens in Mashhad with focus on advanced technologies

The 31st Iran Nuclear Conference has begun in Mashhad, focusing on scientific advancements and nuclear governance. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to its nuclear facilities, rejecting any compromise in talks with the US. The conference aims to foster cooperation and showcase new achievements.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The 31st edition of the Iran Nuclear Conference has officially opened in Mashhad. The event is organized by the Iranian Nuclear Society and supported by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

The conference began on Tuesday and will continue until May 15. It serves as a platform for scientific discussions, showcasing new achievements, and fostering national cooperation in nuclear science and technology.

Among the key themes of the conference are “Application of Radiation and New Radiation Technologies,” “Physics and Technology of Nuclear Fusion and Plasma,” “Nuclear Reactors & Quantum Technologies,” “Nuclear Fuel Cycle & Materials,” and “Nuclear Governance & Sustainable Development.”

The first day of the conference will feature discussions on several important topics, including “Research Reactors in the World and their Applications,” “Introduction of Neutron Imaging System in Tehran Reactor,” “Fuel Testing in Tehran Reactor,” “Radioisotope Production and Irradiation of Gemstones in Tehran Reactor,” and “Introduction of Isfahan Research Reactors.”

Addressing a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to its nuclear facilities. He emphasized that under no circumstances would Iran compromise on its nuclear infrastructure during negotiations with the United States.

Pezeshkian stated that Iran’s engagement in indirect talks with the US demonstrates Tehran’s commitment to peace. However, he firmly rejected any speculation about abandoning Iran’s nuclear capabilities, calling such notions completely unacceptable.

He highlighted the peaceful applications of nuclear technology, noting its significance in agriculture, environmental protection, industry, and medicine.

The president reiterated that Iran will continue its peaceful nuclear activities and made it clear that the country has never sought, nor will ever seek, nuclear weapons. He emphasized Iran’s opposition to such arms.
