Netanyahu vows full-force military operation in Gaza to defeat Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced a full-force military operation in Gaza to defeat Hamas. He also revealed plans to facilitate the departure of Gaza residents, despite widespread rejection of forced displacement. The situation worsens as Israel resumes bombing and tightens its blockade.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that the Israeli military will enter the Gaza Strip “with full force” in the coming days to complete its ongoing offensive and “defeat” Hamas.

In a statement from his office on Tuesday, Netanyahu declared, “In the very coming days, we are going in with full force to complete the operation. Completing the operation means defeating Hamas. It means destroying Hamas.”

He further emphasized that Israel would not stop the war, stating, “A temporary ceasefire might happen, but we are going all the way.”

Netanyahu also revealed that Israel has established an administration to facilitate the departure of Gaza residents. He noted that his government is working to find countries willing to accept Palestinians from the besieged territory.

According to Netanyahu, “over 50 percent will leave” if given the option.

Since the war began in October 2023, Israel has signaled its intention to remove Gaza’s local Palestinian population.

Netanyahu has stated that Israel will implement US President Donald Trump’s plan to resettle much of Gaza’s population in other countries.

Palestinians and Arab nations have universally rejected Trump’s proposal, arguing that such forced displacement would violate international law.

Palestinians in Gaza have expressed their refusal to leave, fearing another mass expulsion similar to the one that occurred during the war surrounding Israel’s creation in 1948.

Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza on October 7, 2023, following Hamas’s Al-Aqsa Flood operation, which was carried out in retaliation for Israeli actions against Palestinians.

Despite failing to achieve its declared objectives, Israel accepted Hamas’s longstanding negotiation terms under a ceasefire agreement that began on January 19.

However, two months later, Israel unilaterally broke the truce and resumed its bombing campaign in Gaza.

The situation has worsened due to Israel’s tightening of the Gaza blockade, cutting off essential supplies of food and medicine for the territory’s 2.3 million residents.
