AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian resistance group Hamas welcomed the start of proceedings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), aiming to hold Israel accountable for blocking humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. The group emphasized that the hearings expose Israel’s ongoing violations of international humanitarian law.

On Monday, the ICJ began a week of hearings to address Israel's refusal to permit aid into Gaza and its ban on the UN's Palestinian aid agency, UNRWA. Hamas criticized the occupation’s use of starvation as a weapon of war, describing the blockade as a blatant violation of legal and moral obligations.

Hamas urged the international community and legal organizations to enforce previous ICJ rulings against Israel, including its January 2024 order requiring Israel to prevent genocide in Gaza. The group highlighted the regime’s deliberate actions to intensify its siege and destroy civilian infrastructure.

Palestinian Ambassador to the Netherlands Ammar Hijazi labeled Israel’s actions a "genocidal campaign," underscoring the immense suffering of Palestinians as they face starvation, displacement, and constant attacks. UN Ambassador Riyad Mansour echoed these sentiments, lamenting that Palestinians in Gaza are "trapped between death and displacement."

The hearings feature representatives from 40 nations and four international organizations. Although Israel did not attend, it submitted a written response claiming the UN and UNRWA—not Israel—should be held accountable.

Since October 2023, Israel’s aggression in Gaza has killed over 52,314 Palestinians and injured more than 117,792, with women and children comprising a significant portion of the casualties. Despite reaching a brief ceasefire in early 2024, the regime resumed its attacks and tightened its blockade, leading to further devastation.
